Sandplay Therapy

Sandplay is an effective tool that enables a client to illustrate an inner psychic state, often non-verbally. The psychic conflict becomes clear and is ultimately open to intervention and resolution. Sandplay is effective with children and adults as well as with couples, groups and families.

TRAINING, WORKSHOPS, SUPERVISION

Sandplay workshops are offered once a month.  Introductory training sessions cover such areas as developmental issues in Sandplay from birth through adulthood, family systems in Sandplay, types of populations, etc.  Lectures and case presentations comprise the morning sections; supervision of participant’s cases and an opportunity to do a personal sand picture are included in the afternoon sections. The advanced workshops focus on deepening an understanding of Sandplay through intensive study of’ archetypes, mythology and symbols with supervision and experiential.

WORKSHOPS FOR YOUR AGENCY

Sandplay training can be scheduled for your agency or clinic. Topics include introduction to Jungian Sandplay, Child-Centered Family Sandplay, Creative Methods in Play Therapy, etc. Specific diagnostic categories, such as sex abuse, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, can be highlighted. Advanced Series

The Introductory training workshops must be completed before one is eligible for the advanced group.

This series is geared to the dedicated Sandplay practitioner who is interested in assessing some of the deeper issues that are encountered during a sandplay process with either children, adults or families. The topics are generated by the interests of the group and, in the past, have included different diagnostic categories such as depression, anxiety, attention-deficit disorders, sex abuse, death, divorce, etc. These are interwoven with an in-depth look at some of the major archetypes that are encountered including the role of the Gods and Goddesses as they may be witnessed in sand, myths, fairy tales, etc. In the sand trays produced by the participants, the theme of the spiritual journey usually pervades Throughout. A number of participants have shared that the experiential portion has contributed significantly to their personal development.

The group usual meets on the first Saturday of each month; however, there are no meetings during January and February. For 2010 the dates are: March 6, April 3, May 1, June 5.The cost for each workshop is $125.
