Center for Sandplay Studies
The advanced series is geared to the dedicated Sandplay
practitioner who is interested in assessing some of the deeper issues that
are encountered during a sandplay process with either children, adults or
families. The topics are generated by the interests of the group and, in
the past, have included different diagnostic categories such as
depression, anxiety, attention-deficit disorders, sex abuse, death,
divorce, etc. These are interwoven with an in-depth look at some of the
major archetypes that are encountered including the role of the Gods and
Goddesses as they may be witnessed in sand, myths, fairy tales, etc. In
the sand trays produced by the participants, the theme of the spiritual
journey usually pervades throughout. A number of participants have shared
that the experiential portion has contributed significantly to their
personal as well as professional development.
Participants will be encouraged to take advantage of
case consultations this year that will be included as part of the schedule
of each workshop.
The group usually meets on the first Saturday of each
month; however, there are no meetings during January and February. For 2009 - 2010, the dates are:
Oct. 3, Nov. 7, Dec. 5, March 6, April
3, May 1, June 5 Groups meet from 10:00
a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Participants bring a brown-bag lunch - coffee,
tea and snacks are provided.

series will include supervision with various participants presenting a
case to the group. The types of case will vary, depending on the
presenter.
